The Life of Dad After Show - Episode 130 - Bryan Alkire - KzooDad

Art Eddy and Ryan Hamilton bring on the KzooDad himself, Bryan Alkire, to discuss just how cool and/or uncool it is to be a dad.

Bryan is a Stay At Home Dad in Kalamazoo, Michigan. That is where the Kzoo comes from.

In 2012 when his older daughter was a little over 2 years old, he left his job as a sales rep to become her primary caregiver. He and his didn’t want a daycare to raise their kids, and a recent promotion meant he was going to be the one staying home.

This decision became even more important as a few months later when his daughter was diagnosed with a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma. At that time his wife was 8 months pregnant. It was a very tough time, but they got through it. Read more about Ella’s ordeal here.

Not long after Ella’s surgery, Sophia was born. Now almost three years later, both girls are doing great and getting bigger every day.

His wife travels a lot, and unfortunately, misses out on some of the day-to-day adventures the he and his daughters have every day. He decided to start to write some of what happened so he wouldn’t forget. Soon he was sharing stories, opinions and Kzoodad.com was born.
